Where is located the mountain?
If you are the person that you don’t like the crowd so this new route to the Palcoyo rainbow mountain is for you where you will see deferent natural formations of colorful mountains as well you will have magnificent view to the highest snow cap mountain Ausangate, and the most important is you won’t hike much is about 2 Hours round trip so you will have more time to enjoy and explore all the natural beauty.
How can get to this place?
this Rainbow mountain is located in the south-east of Cusco region located in the district of Pitumarca and Palcoyo to get to this place you have to drive for three hours and a half all the way to Salka river or just before you arrive to combapata you will follow the paved road that goes to Puno Region from this place you will turn to the left and you will follow the dusty road up following the Salka river  after 35 minutes you will turn to the left from this is only one way until the starting point, 30 before you get there is a checkpoint where you have to pay your entrance fee to the mountain which is 10 soles then you will find well-marked path to the rainbow mountain going to the rainbow mountain round trip will take two hours in case you want to explore all around like tree hours then you have to come back to Cusco you can take your lunch or you can find lunch on the way back to Cusco.
Do you need a tour guide?
to get to this amazing place you have to hire a van normally the cost is around 400 soles round trip, from Cusco to the starting point of the hike is 142 Kilometers.
You can do by your own no problem but in case you want to have information about the place if you organize in advance he can help you with the organization the average cost is 70 USD or insoles like 230 soles just the guiding service highly recommended especially if you don't speak Spanish.
